Support Jannah and Shorna’s Cross-Country Move for Safety

Hi everyone, I’m Jannah. As many of you know, for the last 3+ years, my partner and I have been dealing with severe stalking from her parents after she was outed and had to go no-contact due to fear for her safety. This resulted in her parents harassing my workplace, continually finding our address even after we made our address confidential, staking our living area out and chasing us down multiple times, etc. As you can imagine, being stalked to this extent, especially by blood relatives, has been extremely taxing mentally. We have had to make emergency moves 3 times since 2022 within Austin because of the stalking. The last time we moved, it only took 6 months before they found our address again and began showing up at our door. We don’t even feel safe going outside for a walk at this point. No matter where we go in Austin, we are always watching behind us to make sure no one is following. In January of this year, we were finally able to get a protective order after a grueling legal process. However, we still do not feel safe, as we have sent cease-and-desist letters in the past to no avail. Moving cross country wouldn’t stop them from trying, but it would definitely make it more difficult and expensive to regularly come to our home and harass us.

It has always been a dream of ours to move, but especially after going through this situation, it has become dire for our mental health. Unfortunately, as everyone knows, moving across the country is expensive. The POD unit alone is over $4,000, not to mention all the other expenses. My partner and I have been working extra to save up money, but we are trying to make this move happen in June (almost 4 months from now), and it is going to be difficult even with the extra work we’re putting in. I made this GoFundMe to explain our situation, and instead of giving us a going away present for when we move, we would appreciate any donation instead. We have set the amount to $6,000 to cover the expenses of the POD, moving supplies, and driving our 2 cars + 2 cats 2,000 miles across the country.
