Support Jaquez's Recovery

My name is Jaquez Burton. I am originally from the metro Atlanta, GA area, but I moved to Vail, Colorado in 2021. I am 26 years old, and I decided to move for better job opportunities. All of my incredibly supportive and encouraging family and oldest friends are nearly 1,500 miles away, in the Georgia and Florida region.

Last week, I played basketball with friends, and in a freak accident, I fell and tore the patella tendon in both of my knees. This devastating injury required immediate surgery. I’d just purchased my first car 2 weeks ago and was so excited about my future possibilities. Now, I’m afraid I will lose it all.

I am now in a rehab facility to begin my long recovery. Doctors expect it to be 6 to 8 weeks before I’m back on my feet, with a full 18 months of physical therapy before I achieve full recovery.
