Support Jared and Lindsey's Adoption Journey

Hello everyone! We are Jared and Lindsey Young, and we are hoping to start our family through adoption! Even though Jared himself is a biological child, Jared's parents needed to start their family through adoption after years of dealing with infertility, so we have always suspected that we might have the same need. After numerous doctors’ visits, our suspicions were confirmed that our chances of naturally having a biological child are zero. While this news was difficult to hear at the time, our hope of starting a family through adoption has become a bright light in our lives, and we are moving forward with so much excitement and love for what the future may hold for us.

Why Adoption?

Adoption holds a special place in our hearts. Both of Jared's siblings were brought into the family through adoption, so there has always been a special love for adoption. The bonds that Jared has forged with his siblings are one of the many factors that have contributed to our firm belief that it is not blood that makes a family, but rather the bond of love that forms it and holds it together.

Why Do We Need Help?

Adoption can be very expensive due to the many legal processes required and the potential financial need of the birth mother during her pregnancy. We are working hard ourselves to save as much as we can. Any donations, no matter how big or how small, would be a tremendous help in bringing a baby home to us sooner. Below we have listed out the financial roadmap for adoption so you might better understand the process and where donated funds would go in order to help our dreams become reality.

*The fees listed below are estimates obtained from two law firms and a social worker. Actual costs may vary within, below, or beyond the listed ranges.

Home study fee: $1,000 - $1,300

Application fees: $1,000 - $5,000

Agency fees: $15,000 - $25,000

Birth Parent Expenses/At-risk fees: $8,000 - $15,000

Legal Fees (In-State adoption): $2,000 - $4,000

Legal Fees (Out-of-State adoption): $5,000 - $10,000

The feeling that it was time to start a family came into our hearts a while ago and we started preparing for it. The most difficult realization was that we would need help to reach our financial goals if we were to act on that feeling. The reason it is difficult is that we believe that our friends and family have already given us so much support through their love and friendship that it is hard for us to ask for more. At this time, we humbly ask for any assistance where it can be given, whether it be through a donation or by keeping us in your thoughts and prayers. We will share updates as we go along so you can stay informed in our process. We love you all and appreciate your interest in our story.

UPDATE: We are currently finishing up our Homestudy! Almost everything has been completed with this, now it is mostly just waiting... but guess what?! Funds have helped us pay for this whole section of the adoption process:

Homestudy:

Fingerprinting- $130 PAID

Social Worker- $700 + follow up visit $300 FUNDED

Application:

Photographs (for profile)- $70 PAID

UPDATE: We have finished all required paperwork and documents required for the Homestudy and have a home visit scheduled for April 14th. Once this is completed we will be "Certified" to adopt and will start looking for a birth mom!!!
