As some of you may have heard Jared was in the middle of a work day when he was attempting to release a buried wood-chipper using an excavator. The clevis he was using broke free, smashed through the windshield and collided with his chest. The collision resulted in a shatter left clavicle, four broken ribs, a broken shoulder blade, collapsed veins, a brain bleed, and a fractured jaw. Thankfully he was unconscious immediately. His coworkers were able to get him out of the skidloader, apply pressure to the wound, and call 911. Upon the medics arrival, they decided airlifting him out would be the best option. He was taken to Thedacare in Neenah, WI where they were able to get him back to surgery to stop the internal bleeding and stabilize him.
After surgery, they made the decision to transport him to Froedtert in Milwaukee. He is in the ICU now, undergoing scans, xrays, and tests to figure out the next steps. Right now the main concerns are the brain bleed, collapsed veins, and clearing out the wound. As far as we are being told, the clavicle is completely shattered and most likely will need to be replaced. They are also worried about his left lung collapsing after the trauma from the impact and a stroke from the brain bleed. Before any reconstruction can happen, they want the swelling in his chest, shoulder, arm, and brain to decrease. His team is keeping him stable. Please keep him and our family in your prayers.
As Ashley is at Jared’s bedside and away from work there are bills that will continue to come in. Both medical and the day to day needs. Please consider helping them in this great time of need so that Ashley and Jared can focus on recovery.
Thank you for the prayers that have already gone out for Jared’s recovery. You can follow Jared’s progress on CaringBridge https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/jaredborchardt
