Support Jason & Reyna, In memory of Jan Lohmann

On September 16, 2021, our friend, Jason, lost his beloved Jan, leaving him a single father of a six-day-old baby girl. Her daughter Reyna will never know her mother. Jan was only 20 years old and had her whole life ahead of her.

Jan was a beautiful, loving, and compassionate person. A few days after giving birth, she felt extremely weak, had a fever, and experienced abdominal pains. Jason became concerned and called an ambulance where she was rushed to the Emergency Room at her County Hospital. Jan was told her symptoms were normal from post labor and she was sent home with no treatments. The doctor assured the young couple that everything would be okay. However, Jan’s symptoms worsened and three short days later Jan was suffering the same pains to a worsened degree. Once again, an ambulance was called and she was taken to the same Emergency Room. In a matter of 4 hours, Jan was being treated with IV fluids, medications, received a blood transfusion, had been intubated, and coded blue where CPR was performed for 20 minutes. The doctors were able to get a pulse and stabilized her. The plan set in place was to transport her to another hospital where a more competent team of doctors could operate on her abdomen to find the infection. Sadly, Jan never made it to that hospital. Her husband, Jason, held her hand as she was taken off life support. Six days before was the happiest day of Jan and Jason’s life. And in less than a week the most tragic for Jason and their baby, Reyna.

The goal is to help support both Jason and Reyna during this difficult time. Jason will continue to work to provide for his family financially. However, the funeral costs, medical expenses, and the costs of raising a newborn are difficult to manage as a single father.
