Hi Everyone,
I am here on this platform, speaking on behalf of my baby brother Jason Brent Davis. My family asks for your prayers and support during this challenging time.
In February 2022, as we celebrated the birth of my baby nephew (the first baby in the family on both sides), Jason's Son, Baby Dean Davis, we were also met with the devastating news that my brother Jason at only 29 years of age, was diagnosed with terminal stage 4 metastatic melanoma cancer. After extensive testing, the doctors revealed that cancer had spread throughout his body, bones, prostate etc... Scrambling to save his life, he immediately sought treatments to fight cancer. He underwent immunotherapy.
Immunotherapy is a treatment that uses a person's immune system to fight cancer. Immunotherapy can boost or change how the immune system works so it can find and attack cancer cells. No treatment is without its drawbacks; the side effects are like having the flu, such as fever, chills, and fatigue. It can also cause a burning feeling in the bladder while the immune system is trying to attack the cancer cells; this is causing the tumors to be inflamed, causing my brother to be in excruciating pain. To add to the list there was a massive tumor that was growing in his prostate, as well as another tumor, pressing into his spine; the doctors suggested aggressive radiation to specifically target these two areas, while still going continuing his immunotherapy. Radiation has painful side effects; my brother was in constant / 24-hour unrelenting pain and suffering. He is deteriorating faster than immunotherapy can work, losing massive amounts of weight (going from 190 lbs in December to only being 115 lbs in July 2022) and the ability to be mobile. He is now bed ridden. Due to this, my brother has decided to enter hospice so he can spend what little time left he has with his wife and newborn son and be alleviated from the pain. All the while, he missed his newborn's milestones and could not carry or hold his baby.
In June 2022, we were hit with another hurdle; my sister-in-law, the sole breadwinner of their family, was laid off, and the start-up company she worked for could not keep its doors open due to this economy.
My brother had a bright future planned! In December 2020. He graduated summa cum laude with a Doctorate in Chiropractic; he was awarded the president's leadership award to boot! He started his career and had a baby, moving through life as we do; This life-altering news has shattered our hearts in a way no words can describe.
So my family and I humbly ask for your support and prayers to help my brother, his wife and their son be as comfortable and worry-free as possible; while we have not lost faith, hope and the belief that a miracle will be granted. We want to alleviate some stressors in his life. We Love you Jason so much.
I thank you all in advance. ( I will be updating this post, for any news to keep you all up to date)
Love,
The Davis Family
