Support Jason's Journey to Better Health

Dear friends and followers of Jason and Justin Leider’s journey. We all know Deena and Jeff, along with their sweet Jordan and their other superhero Justin, would do anything to better the quality of life for the boys. Most recently, they moved to Florida with the hope the climate would be better for Jason and his breathing. This was not an easy decision for either of them or the family as leaving their home where their 3 children were born was not as difficult as leaving their family and friends back in New Jersey.

Recently, under the advice of Jason’s doctors, Deena and Jeff flew Jason to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, as it was the only hospital in the US that had a team of Doctors’ and the expertise that could operate on Jason. This was a very difficult surgery to open and clear Jason’s trachea to help him breathe better. Unfortunately, as in almost every procedure Jason has undergone, he had complications that were not expected. These complications come at a huge cost to the Leider family. Although Insurance will cover a good portion of the procedure, there are other unforeseen costs to the family due to their extended stay in Cincinnati. Unfortunately, this procedure is not connected to the clinical trial Jason is enrolled in. Jeff had to fly back to Florida to take care of his obligations to his business clients, leaving Deena to stay with Jason. Jeff will once again travel back to Cincinnati this weekend to support his wife and Jason and go back to Florida again on Monday to once again make sure his clients’ needs are satisfied, as he self-employed.

At this time, the doctors will not release Jason from Cincinnati Childrens Hospital until he completes his physical therapy and there are no further complications. Once Jason is cleared, as per the Doctors recommendations, Jason will not be able to fly back to Florida. Jeff will have to fly up again, rent a car, and drive Jason and Deena back to Florida. Unfortunately, more unexpected costs. Also today, Jeff and Deena received news from the team of doctors, that Jason will have to return to Cincinnati after 4-6 weeks upon returning to Florida for checkups and unfortunately, go back under anesthesia for more scopes and procedures, which will require further travel to and from Cincinnati for the Leiders!

As you all know, Jeff and Deena have always been the type of family to help others in their time of need, which incorporated Let Them Be Little, an organization to help children and families with all rare diseases.
