Hello, let me introduce you to Jayden. I met Jayden and his mother when he was only 2 years old. At the time, I never dreamed I would become a “daddy,” especially to such a sweet little boy. Watching him grow up into the teenager he is now has given me years of happiness (and some grey hair).
On December 4th, 2021, our lives were turned upside down. This was the day of Jayden’s first seizure. He was at his grandmother’s house just sitting in a chair on the patio when he started seizing and fell face first onto the pavers. Since that day, my little boy has been through so much. They attached wires to his head for days while going to school, enduring some kids' ridicule. Over the years, the seizures have gotten more intense and more frequent. He is now having them multiple times a week without any warning of onset. We now cannot leave him on his own. At school, he is being escorted between classes now due to having a seizure while he was going up the stairs and tumbling back down. When he is sleeping, we are constantly checking on him in case he has a seizure in his sleep. He is now 16 and has no independence because we are too scared to lose him due to a seizure.
We have found a way to give Jayden some independence and a way to try and live a little bit more of a normal life. Chilli, a service dog, is currently being trained as a seizure dog to help Jayden. Chilli would be able to sense when a seizure is coming on and urge Jayden down to the ground before it happens. He would be able to notify others that Jayden needs help. This is most important when he is alone or sleeping. We are asking for help to try and give Jayden a better life and also possibly save his life. Please help Jayden get Chilli and live the life he deserves.
