Support Jabo (Jerry Dean) with new housing

Our friend Jerry (Jabo) Dean (formerly Grigadean) and his daughter need financial support to move into new housing immediately.  Their rent house in Zilker hood will be demolished for a new build in mid-December.

Jabo  is best known to the fellow Austinites as the UT prof who started the 'History of Rock' course and later was founding member of the duo Grigadean and Friends.  Their must see classic content including party anthem 'Sugar Rush ' is available on partner Pat Grigadean's website: patgrigadean.com.  He is presently songwriter, guitar and vocalist in the four member folk group, The Old Hats.

Known for his love of nature and gardening, Jabo was responsible for cultivating the community garden at Zilker Elementary School along with bandmate, Smokey. These guys love hanging out and teaching kids about different plants and how to take care of them.  Their hard work laid the groundwork for later improvements to the installation and will continue to be enjoyed by the students at Zilker Elem for years to come.

We want to help a man whose passion for music, teaching and performance has fostered friendships that have touched so many, especially during these difficult times.  Friends are already gathering to help him transition to a safe and comfortable home for his family and bandmates to gather.  None have been able to work because of Covid, but maintain a joyful positive attitude towards everything.  Let's join together to give Jabo the best 80th birthday we can and help him get back to teaching and making music!
