My name is John David Newton Stafford - better known as "JD" and "JD and The Noise". I am the current lead songwriter, lead singer and original drummer for the band "TRIPPP".
Due to a series of unfortunate events and circumstances between my parents and myself that have continued to escalate over the past 6 years, I am creating this fundraising opportunity in order to resolve and accomplish a couple of things:
1. I found myself incarcerated in jail/mental hospital for 11 days, after a family meeting I was coerced into attending resulted in my arrest. My charges have already been lowered from a felony to a misdemeanor and we are hoping to soon prove I am innocent of all charges on the condition I have no contact with my mother until my court date on March 31, 2025. For months, I refused to put myself into a potentially dangerous situation with my family. They continued to harass everyone who has been helping me survive and take steps to better myself, and left me under the impression that I had no other options for myself other than to work out our differences, or be left homeless on the street. Out of love for my brothers and respect for our music career, I tried one last time to reconcile and it resulted in more abuse and mistreatment. Now that I am trying to defend myself, and gain control of my own life, I owe a lot of money for my bail and my attorney fees that I do not possess due to my parents holding all of my finances through the band (TRIPPP Music LLC) - as they have done my entire career and life.
2. The control my family has had over me as a 24 year old has led to me being evicted from my only home in Nashville, and I am being refused access to the truck I worked for and worked on since I was 16. I have toured in this truck for almost a decade now, including driving it to our debut at the Grand Ole Opry in 2022 and our performances at Rock The Country this past summer. Due to inconsistency in behaviors, I had all of my clothes and personal belongings inside my truck when it was forcibly removed from my possession - forcing me into homelessness and desperation for the last 4 months of 2024, up until now. I am extremely fortunate to still be here today writing this plea for help, thanks to a very small group of people willing to refuse my parents’ demands. I have been severely traumatized and it will cost thousands of dollars over the next few years, to keep pushing forward and choosing to grow through this horrifying experience and situation through outpatient counseling.
3. As kids, we sat down with our parents FIRST in 2017 to form the band, and SECONDLY in 2019 to legally form our business as brothers: TRIPPP Music LLC. At the time, we allowed our parents to form a conservatorship over us through the signing of our LLC. We signed them as our managers and unbenounced to the three of us - signed over each of our rights to Power of Attorney. This conservatorship was "necessary" before we turned 21. However, starting at the time that Josh Turner invited my brothers and I to make our Grand Ole Opry Debut in 2022, our parents' conservatorship over me and my brothers began to halt our opportunities and negatively impact our career and private life.
4. Since 2019, I have not had ownership, control, or access over any of my music business related assets or finances. No manager(s), attorney(s), or other business partners (including my brothers - Chaz and Treyson) have been able to work with me long term due to insanely detailed and overwhelming demands my parents give them. This LLC contract is still holding power over me and my career to this day.
5. I will be doing anything and everything I can, starting from square one, to work myself back into a life I can control.. I will be working any jobs I can get, saving up for bare necessities, and paying back all of the people who graciously helped me be here today. A donation to this fundraiser ensures I will be able to pay my medical and legal fees. It will also potentially provide me an opportunity to record music independently by myself and finally be able to tell my side of the story in more detail. The original dream was for my brothers and I to positively impact the world through music. I hope I’m able to use this fundraiser for good and hopefully through it all: be able to reconcile the family and make music with my brothers again one day. Please feel free to follow me on Instagram and TikTok (@jdandthenoise) in order to communicate with me. You can also friend me or follow me on Facebook (JD Stafford). I want to continue using my social media presence to spread awareness and provide community and support to other emotional, sexual, financial, psychological, physical, and domestic abuse survivors.
