Aloha Family & Friends

I just wanted to start off by introducing my dad, Jeff Kuret. He is a Father of 2 kids & a Grandpa to 1. Jada (24) Jaden (22) and Kaile’a (6 months). For those who know him, hes always been the Life of the Party! My dad is currently a Lieutenant in the Federal Fire Department so hes always been strong his entire life. He is a fighter, competitor and will not give up.

Back in May Jeff had a weird pain in his shoulder that wouldn’t subside. He was transported by ambulance to Pali Momi ER. After having a CT scan done it was found that Jeff had a bleed in his artery on his spleen. The surgeon (Dr. Ver) operated on him and noticed some abnormalities on Jeff’s spleen and liver. The bleed in his artery was fixed and reinforced by Dr. Ver and her team. A biopsy was taken to determine what these abnormalities were. Jeff recovered and was discharged. His biopsies came back non conclusive.

On August 5th Jeff was found in pain by 2 coworkers who were thankfully quick and stern with stubborn Jeff to take him to the hospital. It was once again his spleen that started to bleed again. This time Dr. Ver decided to remove his spleen. She also noticed more abnormal tumors and cyst on Jeff’s spleen, liver and other organs within his abdominal cavity. Another biopsy was taken and was sent to the mainland for diagnosis. Jeff has been recovering in the hospital since.

Jeff was Diagnosed with Stage 4 Angiosarcoma on August 17th, 2024. This is a very uncommon, RARE & aggressive cancer. Only an average of 300 people a year are diagnosed with this. Jeff was taken back by the Drs because he was loosing too much blood and they didn’t know if something in the surgical site associated with his spleen was the cause. They did another CT scan and found that the bleeding was not from the site but from his liver. They found multiple lesions on his liver that were bleeding from the cancer tumors.

He has opted to start Chemotherapy. His oncologist, surgeon and a specialist named Dr. Brian Van Tine from St. Louis who treats over 50 angiosarcoma patients a year have devised a plan to basically treat both the cancer and the bleeding of his liver. Dr. Van Tine advises the staff here in Hawai’i and is enthusiastic about guiding Jeff through his treatment.

We created a gofundme page in hopes of covering current overdue bills and out of pocket expenses for my dad as well as future payments on medical bills that are not covered by his insurance. If you are able to donate please do and if you are not able to we ask to please continue to keep him in your prayers each and every day. Thank you so much.
