Support Jeff's Medical Journey and Recovery

My name is Jessica Pegg and I am setting up this GoFundMe on behalf of my brother, Jeff. Jeff began the 45th year of his life with a trip to Urgent Care, and then was referred to the ER. His blood pressure was sky high, and he was experiencing numbness in his feet. Thought to be blood-pressure related, he was taken off medications and several others were added. It was understood it might take a few days to get better, but it continued to decline. The numbness increased, and he began falling, unable to lift himself or stand back up. So - back to the ER!

Fast forward a week later (today), and we don't have a definitive diagnosis still. Jeff has been in the hospital undergoing IV treatments, tests, and occupational therapy. Tomorrow, Jeff is undergoing surgery on his neck to help with a bulging disc and hope that relieves some of the pain and pressure on his spine. On Monday, he will move to Kaiser for rehab therapy and hopefully get things moving in the right direction. The neurosurgeons aren't 100% on the same page as to what the ailment may be, as some believed it to be Guillain-Barre Syndrome, but some protein and cells were found in his spinal fluid, so collectively they are still working on a diagnosis.

Jeff is a Software Engineer where coding in several languages is his area of expertise. Since he has been in the hospital, he has extreme pain in his hands and is unable to grab or lift most anything, and he is unable to type. Thankfully, his new employer is keeping his position as he takes up to 12 weeks FMLA, but it is unpaid. Aside from his rent and car payments, these medical bills have already begun piling up with no income. He is moving into my parents' house where my son and I already reside. I am a single mom, and my parents are both on fixed incomes, so financial help is minimal that we are able to offer.

I know this is our last resort as we are not very good at asking for help, especially from those outside our family. However, we do not know what the future holds and how long we may be dealing with treatments and rehab that insurance doesn't cover.
