My name is Ramona Kimmel. I am trying to help a single mom who is in desperate need of home repairs. She and her nine-year-old son are living in a dilapidated mobile home. It is unsafe. Please help me to help Jenna and Blake fix their home.
Jenna is a single mom, with a 9-year-old son, who lives in Stockbridge, Georgia. She was abused as a child, by her mother, all her grandparents passed away before she was even born. The only living relative that she has is her elderly father, who lives across the country and has his own battles with addiction.
In 2012, Jenna married a man, and Blake was born in 2014. Her husband had turned to drugs and alcohol way before Blake was born. He abandoned her during the pregnancy. returning briefly, only to disappear again, when Blake was only 4 months old. This time he left with every bit of money the family had, leaving his wife and son to be evicted.
Jenna was able to land a job with a local daycare center, where she was able to bring her son to work with her. She saved every penny she could, until the day she felt compelled to report the center for reckless endangerment of a child having grand mal seizures. She resigned her position at the undesirable daycare center.
While being employed, Jenna had managed to save a little money. In April of 2016, she found a mobile home for sale for $1500. She bought it and moved away from that area. Now, at least, owned their home! The only thing she would have to pay was the $400 a month for lot rent. As they were pulling into the driveway, the radiator busted, on their vehicle, but Jenna knew that God had gotten them to their new home first. When they needed groceries, Jenna would put Blake into his stroller and walk to the Chevron, which was the only store, in walking distance.
Jenna decided to become an entrepreneur, and start selling children’s toys from home, on the internet; another way to be able to be with her son full-time. Shopping at Goodwill, local thrift stores, and Walmart Clearance items, she made enough money to stabilize them financially for a few years. Then, out of nowhere, the mobile home park wants to evict them, because of the age of the trailer, knowing full well that Henry County would not let them move their 1970’s model mobile home. Basically, they were being evicted for being poor.
Once again, Jenna had that feeling of hopelessness. Remaining steadfast, she searched diligently for something else they could own. She and Blake prayed and asked God to help them find their forever home.
One day, someone told her about and elderly lady that owned a mobile home, on a corner lot, in Stockbridge. Jenna and Blake met with the lady and offered her the money they had. She said that if they could come up with $5,000.00 more, she would sell it to them. It took them a little over a month to get that kind of money, but along with her father’s help, and by the grace of God, they were able to buy the trailer and corner lot.
Although the trailer was in extremely bad shape, both mother and child were ecstatic to have their own home. Something that no one could take from them. The floors are rotting because of water leaking in through the roof, every time it rains. There are holes all in the ceiling. In the summer of 2023, a copperhead got into Blake’s bedroom. He has not slept in there since. Jenna has a washer and dryer but has never been able to use it because she cannot afford to have someone come out to assess the situation and get it hooked up. There is only one working electrical outlet, in the living room. She has no central heating and air. Georgia is very hot in the summer. When Helene came through water started leaking down the wall into that outlet. Water also filled the inside of the walls, causing the paint to bubble and crease. The place they call home is dilapidating. Both mother and child were ecstatic to have their own home. Something that no one could take from them.
Jenna is doing the best that she can. She still has her online sales business and Blake is a straight A student, who is home-schooled. That is why Jenna does not work outside the home. She is a good mother and will not leave her child at home alone.
My heart goes out to this single mom who has had one hardship and disappointment after another, but she has never given up. She says she has to keep trying for Blake’s sake and that she knows God has a plan.
Will you please help me help them? NO DONATION IS TOO SMALL. It all adds up. Please pray about it and if you feel compelled to help, please don’t resist. You will be blessed because you blessed them. Thank You.
Blessings,
