Support Jenny Marti's Road to Recovery

Hello everyone! Marina, Annie, Talia, and Kitana here. We are fundraising on behalf of our mom, Jenny Marti.

On October 31, Jenny had a routine surgery that went perfectly. Shortly after coming out of surgery, she exhibited signs of a stroke. Scans discovered a significant blood clot in her brain. She was taken immediately to surgery to remove the clot. The clot was successfully removed.

She was stable for some time, then after time it was discovered that the swelling in her brain was causing a severe Midline Shift (the left side of her brain was being pushed over to the right side). The only way to save her brain was through another surgery.

On November 1st, Jenny underwent a surgery to temporarily remove part of her skull in order to let her brain safely swell and heal. The surgery was successful and saved her life, but she will have a lengthy and difficult recovery ahead of her. 

So far, Jenny has had 3 surgeries, spent several days in the ICU, 5 weeks in an inpatient rehabilitation center, and is about to begin outpatient rehabilitation therapy. She is also going to have surgery sometime in February to replace her skull flap. 

Jenny fortunately already lived with her daughters prior to the stroke, and they have since become her full time caregivers. Her oldest daughter is taking 3-4 weeks off of work to manage her care. Renovations were needed to Jenny’s home to make it safe and accessible for her. Hospital bills and daily living expenses are adding up, and any support helps.

Jenny is the strongest person we know, and she is a fighter! She is loved by many and has an incredible support system. She is the best mom and we want to give her the best chance possible to recover. We made the decision to start fundraising to alleviate some of the financial burden.
