Support Jerald Ignacio's Road to Recovery

Jerald Ignacio was on his way home on the afternoon of September 11th. He had a typically busy workday as a Home Health Physical Therapist when he was involved in a devastating accident. His blue Ford Explorer veered off the road and collided with a tree. It took a massive team of first responders, police, and emergency personnel to perform a complicated extrication to get Jerald out of the badly mangled car.

Due to the extent of his injuries, he was transported via helicopter medical transport to Harborview Medical Center for critical life-saving treatment. Among his injuries were subdural and subarachnoid hemorrhage, multiple ribs fractures, skull and facial bones fractures. He also sustained fractures of his bilateral lower extremities (left open tibia-fibula fracture, right ankle talar neck fracture) and right mandibular condylar fracture, all of which required multiple surgeries. Several of his limitations include not being able to bear weight on his right leg for at least 3 months and he is also currently on a pureed diet for 2 months.

He celebrated his 34th birthday and his second lease on life on Sept 17 in the hospital.

Jerald is now home with his wife Anna Carmela and 2 1/2-year-old son Lukas. He is on a long but steady road to recovery.

Due to the complicated nature of his emergency situation, Jerald's hospital, medical transportation, and other expenses related to his recovery are expected to go beyond what his health insurance and company benefits would cover.
