Support Jerry's Journey Through Brain Surgery

Hi Everyone, I'm writing to you on behalf of my husband, the "Love of My Life" and "Soul Mate".

Jerry was scheduled for surgery at 9:00 am this morning, 17th of April 2024. He is currently in surgery at this very moment. He is having a brain surgery called a "Craniotomy". He has a "Tumor" in the area of his brain called the "Left Temporal Lobe". It is embedded in an area of the brain called the "Left Hippocampus".

The surgeon's plan is to go in there today and remove as much of the Tumor as possible, along with the "Left Hippocampus", with the least amount of damage to the surrounding areas of his brain. His surgery is scheduled for about 4 hours.

The last few days have been extra stressful. If we were in a perfect scenario, we wouldn't have to worry about our financial situation. When Jerry was mostly worried about how we are going to make ends meet in the next several months to come, and not thinking about his extended physical challenges to come, I realized I needed to check into a "Go Fund Me" Account to reach out to our community around us for support. Especially, since I need to be home with Jerry during recovery too, and will not be able to teach.

Your financial donations will help with our In Network Deductible, Out of Pocket, some Out of Network charges and help supplement some income for a couple months, while Jerry is recovering and I'm home with him.

The exact path going forward is uncertain for Jerry. He will need speech therapy. He will have strict restrictions on what he can and can't do. The surgeon will be having to cut through his chewing muscles on the left side. limiting his food diet for a while.

He will be off work for an estimated minimum of 3 months, but possibly longer and may not go back to full time working for quite a while. After surgery the Tumor will be biopsied, and tested. The results will determine Jerry's path going forward. I will keep updating.

I would also like to add that Jerry has been keeping a positive attitude, since his first symptoms in October 2023. The financial part is the hardest for him, since it has always been a huge responsibility of his. He's taken this responsibility on with pride. Symptoms for him, started with short seizers. He even worked up till yesterday, while having these small seizers and memory issues. His boss did not expect this of him, but not surprised with Jerry's work ethic. Jerry wanted to finish up some very important items for his company, before he had his surgery. Jerry wanted to leave our home and his workplace the best it could be for everyone else.
