Support Jessica overcome tragedy and rebuild her life.

Dear Community and friends,

We are the Liberia-Diaspora Healthcare Task Force collaborating with "Team Jessica For Jessica". This GoFundMe is initiated on behalf of a fellow Liberian, Jessica Lloyd, a brave survivor of a horrific attempted murder, and domestic violence incident by her husband Lucas Richards, a White American missionary to Liberia last September. Jessica's journey these past months has been nothing short of traumatic and heart-wrenching. Today, I ask for your kindness, support, and generosity to help Jessica face the monumental challenges ahead.

On the afternoon of September 14, 2023, what began as a conversation about her prenatal treatment, morphed into Mr. Richards giving her four tablets and an injection to abort her unborn child. The Odyssey continued with a car ride to discuss plans however it escalated into a life-threatening situation.

Jessica's husband encouraged her to step outside the car to help him fix a flat tire as he pulled to the side of the road, he then attacked her from the back hitting her with a heavy metal in the middle of her head. Jessica became unconscious and later regained consciousness, it was then she observed her husband with a large knife attempting to slit her throat leaving her severely injured. Fortunately, Jessica was able to escape this anguish and receive help from onlookers who suspected foul play and followed her husband’s car to the crime scene; however, the physical and emotional scars she sustained are profound. Jessica has undergone multiple surgeries to address her injuries, and despite the progress she's made, she faces a long road to full recovery.

Jessica is a kind-hearted, vibrant young lady who dreams of becoming a medical doctor to help the less fortunate children in Liberia. Jessica has always put others before herself, as a mentor working with orphans, Jessica helped shape young minds with patience and love. Jessica's admiration and compassion towards children have spiked her desire to open an Orphanage in the future. Before this incident, Jessica attended a bible college "Youth With A Mission" (YWAM) in Marshall, Margibi, Liberia. Now, she finds herself unable to work or attend school, grappling with not just the physical pain but also the psychological trauma of her ordeal. The mounting medical bills and the need for specialized psychological support have placed a financial burden on Jessica and her family which is too much to bear alone.

The funds raised here will directly contribute to:

Ongoing medical expenses, including surgery and rehabilitation
Psychological support and therapy to help Jessica cope with the trauma, basic living expenses, as Jessica is currently unable to return to work or school, and Legal fees, as she navigates the process of seeking justice and protection.

No one should face such a terrifying agony, but Jessica is determined to move forward. Your support will alleviate the financial stress and empower her to focus on healing and rebuilding her life.

We understand times are tough for everyone, but any donation will make a significant difference in Jessica’s recovery, no matter how small. Please consider helping Jessica in her time of need. Together, we can give her the strength and resources to overcome this chapter of her life, change the narrative, and start anew with hope and dignity.

Thank you for reading Jessica's story and for your support. Please share this campaign with others who might wish to help. With heartfelt gratitude.
