IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!!!
Thank you Everyone for your birthday wishes and presents!!
Several people have been asking what I'd like for my birthday. Honestly, I'd just like to get better and get back to the "old Jessica" who can walk, talk & be independent.
The best way I have found to do this is by attending CORE (Center Of Recovery & Exercise) in Altamonte Springs! CORE is one of the best stroke therapy facilities in Florida! They specialize in helping stroke & traumatic brain injury patients, like myself and have gotten amazing results for hundreds of patients.
The CORE Staff & specialized equipment have kicked my butt and have begun to help me greatly improve my stroke recovery in less time. But, they do not take insurance and each session is $120 per hour. We have been paying for these sessions out of pocket and have even applied for a grant to help with these expenses. But, without your help, I probably won't be able to attend these therapy sessions much longer.
So, if you were wondering what I would like for my birthday this year, I'd be extremely grateful to raise enough money to attend CORE stroke therapy for the next year and get back to being the "old Jessica" who can walk, talk and be independent!
Thank you EVERYONE, again, for your birthday wishes and presents!!
Thank you for your amazing ongoing support!
I love you & hope to see you soon!
Kindest Regards,
Jessica

MY STORY
BEFORE MY STROKE...
I was an active, hard-working woman raising two boys.

AFTER MY STROKE...
I was in the hospital/full-time rehab for over 7 months.

STILL FIGHTING MY STROKE...
I'm at home now. Still fighting to walk, talk & care for myself.
It's not easy...
SO, I STILL NEED YOUR HELP TO GET BETTER EVERY DAY!

Also... I JUST PEED MY PANTS! (No... seriously, I did)
STROKES NO JOKE....IT SUCKS!
But with your help, I can beat this stroke!
I'M A FIGHTER & I'M NOT GIVING UP!

THANK YOU, AGAIN, FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!
I'd like to thank everyone for their ongoing support!
I apologize for the delayed updates on my recovery status.
As many of you know, last July, I had a majorly debilitating stroke that took away my ability to walk, talk, and even eat food! It’s been over two years since the stroke and things have been quite challenging.
Due to not having long-term disability insurance, I was sent home earlier than expected from full-time rehabilitation facility and have been recovering at home with the help of my family & friends and weekly out-patient rehabilitation therapy.
We’ve had to adjust to new living arrangements, transportation methods, new schedules, new
treatments, and new techniques in how to rehab and recover from a major stroke.
Being labeled as DISABLED is hard to accept.
But having YOUR SUPPORT during this difficult time has made ALL THE DIFFERENCE in helping me stay focused, positive, and working hard toward a full recovery.
THANK YOU!
Thank you to everyone who visited me during this time of rehab & recovery!
I have continued to make excellent progress re-learning to walk.
So far, the at-home recovery journey has included the following:
Home Workouts with Family & Friends
Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber Therapy
CORE- Center Of Recovery & Exercise
Brooks Rehab: Occupational, Physical & Speech Therapy
Chiropractic Treatments
Etanercept Treatments
Massage Therapy
Acupuncture
Several people have asked how they can help.
Right now, you can best help me fight this stroke by supporting my continued rehab at the CORE (Center Of Recovery & Exercise) facilities in Altamonte Springs, Florida. They have the most high tech equipment with the most positive and enthusiastic staff to help me stay motivated and rapidly progressing on my journey to full recovery.
Thank you, again, for all your ongoing donations, help, support, wishes, and prayers!
Your donations are greatly appreciated!
All donations are tax deductible.
I pray everyone stays happy, healthy and stroke-free!
XOXO
Kindest regards,
Jessica Sims
