Support Jett Rigby in his recovery
Donation protected
Hi, as most will already be aware, on Sunday 11th of September in a SWFL League game versing South Bunbury, Jett, unfortunately, suffered one of the most unfortunate and worst football injuries many have seen. Jett has fractured his Tibia and Fibula (lower leg) in up to 5 different places, with the most significant break being a compound fracture.
Jett is still in hospital in Fiona Stanley after having two surgeries so far to place his leg in an external fixator, or metal frame, and then for another clean and readjustment, however, Jett is booked in for two more surgeries in the coming days, which are constantly being delayed as the situation evolves. His next surgery will be another readjustment followed by a final surgery (hopefully) to have a steel rod the length of his shin implanted along with plates and screws and a complex skin graft from his hip region to heal the wound created by the compound fracture.
Recovery will be long, with six weeks in a cast and another six in a boot. It will be a minimum of 5 to 6 months before he can return to work and earn any income due to his injury and rehabilitation. He has been told it is unlikely he will be able to play football again, which is obviously devastating news. Unfortunately, as most know, the football league's insurance policy covers the bare minimum. It includes no income protection, and we are still unsure if Jett will see any benefit from this, even with the severity of his case.
With a long and painful road of recovery ahead and a long period with no source of income to support himself with any expenses or living costs, please feel free to donate to help Jett bounce back like we know, and he knows he can and will.
