Support Jiana's Family During Tayden's Critical Months

Hello, my name is Jiana and I live in the mountains with my husband, my 2-year-old daughter, and my unborn son, Tayden. Recently, at 24 weeks, Tayden was diagnosed with severe non-immune fetal hydrops. The emergency doctors say that there is no treatment option at this time and that there is a less than 5% chance for Tayden to survive by Week 34. My husband and I were devastated by this news, but we remain hopeful through prayer and by doing our best each day on our forest homestead in the Sierra Nevadas—regardless of the outcome.

At this time, I would like to receive in-depth genetic testing to possibly find out what caused my baby’s hydrops. UCSF’s Hydrops Center of Excellence is the ideal place for us to receive this care, but it is about 3 hours away from where we live and we do not have insurance to cover the medical costs.

Also, depending on Tayden’s condition, within the next three critical months, I will also have to undergo preterm birth through C-section or induced labor. My husband and I will not be able to work full-time for at least a few months during my postpartum recovery, nor will we have any relatives or family members to support our homestead during this time. We will be relying on the generous love of our few neighbors, who have voluntarily agreed to help feed our chickens, goats, sheep, and dogs—but not for long.
