Support Jim Danger's Care, Final Wishes and Family

Donation protected
It is with gratitude for our final weeks together, joy for a life lived well and sadness for the loss of this version of Jim Danger that we his family share news of his passing. He crossed the veil at 8:08pm on Friday, August 16th, peacefully and surrounded by loving family and music. He is survived by his family, friends and fans, which are innumerable.

Jim Danger: “Never a dull moment.” (Epitaph written by Jim in grade school)

Update 8/16/24:
Jim Danger is entering the final stages of this life — on IV pain meds and unable to eat, just a few sips of water here and there. We are doing our best to keep him comfortable, and his incredible son James has been keeping his spirits high with music — see the link below to listen to the first few songs of an in-process album James is creating for his Dad, "The greatest man who ever lived."

Jim's wife Erin is not able to work at the moment, as her job with the school department doesn't start up again for a few weeks, and finances are tight, especially with end-of-life costs in the near future. Any help to support the family is greatly appreciated.

After listening to James' music, I think you'll agree with what Jim said last night, "I leave the world in good hands."

August 1st:
Just over a week ago, we got the sudden, shocking and heartbreaking news that Jim Danger (beloved father, grandfather, uncle, brother, friend, and icon) has Stage 4 gastro/GE cancer, which has metastasized from his stomach to liver and kidneys — and time left is limited.

In true Jim Danger form, he came home from that diagnosis and performed his song, "We're All Dying" — before and after the song, he was barely able to take a full breath or move without crying out in pain, yet, ever the punk rocker, he still managed to belt out this incredible song (which he wrote over a decade ago).

Jim is deeply loved by family and friends, including: wife Erin, 17-year-old son James, three adult daughters Lea (& husband Ron), Crystal (& wife Angie), and Sarah (& husband Bob), two grandkids Ariana and Ryan, and one more grankiddo on the way! In addition to these immediate family members, Jim has scores of friends and fans across the world, from his days as a punk-rocker in Portsmouth and Kittery, to coworkers and acquaintances who have grown to be close friends, because Jim is loving, insightful, funny, smart, generous, talented, curious, and kind. Chances are, if you've met Jim, you haven't forgotten him, and if you're lucky, you've become another dear friend.

The biggest thing you can do to help lift his spirits and fulfill his final wishes is to listen to and share his music — links below — and of course send your love, prayers, and well-wishes, but we are also setting up this GoFundMe for those who can and wish to support his care and family financially. After 8 days in the hospital (Wentworth Douglas, now MassGeneral Brigham, which had an EXCELLENT team of exceptional nurses and providers), he is currently at the home of his daughter Crystal and her wife Angie, being cared for by a rotating cast of loved ones. While thankfully, Jim's Medicare kicked in at his 65th birthday just weeks before his unexpected diagnosis, there are still copays and other expenses not fully covered.

Funds raised will support prescription and medical co-pays, basics like food and supplies, fees for getting his music online (including some great cover songs which come with a licensing fee to upload), and ultimately, his surviving immediate family.

"For the price of a cup (or bag) of coffee," as they say, YOU can support getting Jim's version of "Precious Memories" and other cover songs online, buy him a movie he's wanted to see for years, cover gas to and from appointments, and help cover the final bills, which are always more than expected. Any and all funds exceeding immediate needs will be given to his surviving immediate family: wife Erin and 17-year-old son James.

Whether you're able to give monetarily or not, you can help make his final wishes come true. Because Jim's wish now, as it has been for most of his life, is that as many people as possible hear his music. His family has been working from old recordings, CDs, etc., to get his music onto online streaming services so that it's more easily listenable and shareable. So far, we've uploaded three albums, three of which are already live on Spotify, iTunes, Amazon Music, etc. — and more are dropping every day now. So the number one thing you can do is to listen to Jim Danger's music, share it with others and send messages to let my dad know (through YouTube or Facebook messages or comments, or via email (provided on request) what his music means to you.

Jim Danger's full catalogue of music goes far beyond what's streaming — just check out "Jim Danger Originals" on YouTube for hundreds more. Not all of it is for everyone, but there's something there for almost everyone, from acoustic ballads to blues to multi-track alternative punk to explicit bangers (most of which come with a warning label). His global fan base is small but dedicated, and we'd love to see it grow while HE can still see it grow.
