Support Jim Woolley's Medical and Living Costs

Emergency medical and cost of living funds needed for our dear friend, Jim Woolley

Hi Everyone,

Our dear friend Jim has been struggling for awhile now and needs to raise $10,000 USD within the month to pay for medical care and cost of living.

Some days he can walk and get around for short periods of time, but on bad days and sometimes he cannot and must use a wheeled assistive device. He is in a great deal of pain. Since he can only sit or stand and work for very limited amounts of time, he does not have enough money to cover essentials like rent and food and is at risk of losing his accommodation if we do not step up and assist ASAP.

All money raised will be used in the following ways:
  • Cost of living essentials for 6 months, as he recovers and is able to work more and find new clients (Food, rent, bills etc)
  • Medical expenses (Doctor and specialist fees, hospital bills, therapy, scans, medications, medical devices)
  • Soundproofing of current accommodation to assist with recovery; putting a handrail in bathroom

(See below for greater details about what donations will go toward and more.)

Your donations will help with Jim’s most critical needs, but there are also non-monetary ways you can help.
  • Share this GoFundMe campaign with your friends and loved ones to raise as much as possible to help Jim out.
  • Consider working with Jim as a mindfulness-based coach, or refer a friend to work with him. (Online sessions available)
  • Consider sponsoring someone in need who wants coaching and support but can’t afford it.
  • Donate technology or free accommodation to Jim. (Computer with enough power and storage to record and edit complex audio, video with lots of effects; other studio gear. Talk to Jim for more details.)
  • Mixing, mastering and editing skills to help finish audio/video projects (songs, musical journeys, meditations, etc)
  • Volunteer time to help Jim with social media, marketing and promotion to attract more clients.
  • Sponsor Jim’s work creating and sharing original music, musical journeys and guided meditations, content on mindfulness-based topics and more.
  • Commission original creative works: Songs, albums, musical journeys and meditations, personalized guided meditations, and visual art.

Even small donations of $5-25 could add up and help, but please consider donating as much as you can afford to help Jim. He has always been so generous with his time and resources to help others, and is such a lovely friend to many.

We must help him now in his time of need.

Much love,
Anastasia Freeman and Curt Milton

Dear friends & loved ones,

First of all, I’m sorry for being out of touch. The past several years have been uniquely challenging. I realize a lot of people are struggling, and it’s hard for me to advocate for myself. But I’m in a tough and scary place right now and fear for my survival.

My body started giving out mid-2018 after my mom passed away and a period of considerable over-working and intense physical and psychological stress. This included significant and very painful, debilitating health issues, injuries, and long-standing chronic issues worsening. I lost my teaching job and since have experienced financial challenges, extreme isolation during and since the pandemic, emotional abuse and trauma.

Things have remained very difficult and have become more so this past year. On more than one occasion, I’ve come close to losing my life. And it has been very difficult to cope.

Last year, I had a trip to Seattle to seek medical care. It involved physical therapy, appointments with several specialists, procedures, etc. Being unable to stay long enough and long delays for certain appointments and diagnostics made it impossible to explore everything and fully recover. Still, I was making real progress and feeling better than I had in years. But after a bad case of COVID, intense stress, dehydration, sleep deprivation and having to do three fasting procedures in 8 days, I started breaking down physically and psychologically. Then I had to leave Seattle in that very vulnerable and fragile state, and my health and mental health declined further.

Some days I can get around and function for short periods of time; on bad days I am too weak and unable to get out of bed and balance at all, or I have to use a wheeled assistive device. I’ve almost fallen many times. I have been too sick to work much and seek new job opportunities. Lately, I have not had enough money to cover cost of living and other essentials. I am in a lot of pain and am severely limited in how much I can manage each day. My family are no longer in a position to help. My dad was diagnosed with a serious disease recently.

Through your generosity, if I can raise enough money to cover cost of living and proper medical care, I hope and expect I will be able to do more, work more, and become self-sufficient again within a 6-12 month period. As difficult as all this has been, there’s still a lot I want to do and offer. I still really love and find deep meaning helping others and working on creative projects.

I’ve been doing everything within my power to get better, but at this moment, I am up against too much and simply can’t manage on my own. I’m at risk of no place to live, no ability to pay for food, etc, and hitting a point of no return in terms of health and stress.

Your kind and generous donations will help immensely with these urgent matters.

If there is anything you might be able to do, however small or big, it could make a substantial difference. If you are happy to share the GoFundMe campaign created on my behalf by a couple dear friends and, perhaps, your own message and / or this letter by email, social media, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for whatever you can do to help. And feel welcome to get in touch. I would love to hear from you.

With gratitude & love ❤️

Jim
