Support Jinan Chhum's Family After Devastating Storm

Donation protected

Hello, my name is Jinan Chhum, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to read my story. As some of you may know, the Southeast recently got hit hard by Hurricane Helene. Unfortunately, my boyfriend’s family and I were completely blindsided by the storm. We were able to salvage very little but have basically lost everything imaginable in our home.

My boyfriend and his family are survivors of the Khmer Rouge genocide and were forced out of their home in Cambodia, forcing them to seek shelter in a refugee camp in Thailand. Regardless of their trials and tribulations, they persevered and migrated to Black Mountain, NC in December of 1989. In 1994, they settled in their forever home here in Swannanoa, NC, and have been there ever since.

My boyfriend’s mother, Nhim Nhing (64), and father, Son Sok (66), were looking forward to retiring within the next year or so and are now considering otherwise. They could greatly use the help to properly retire.

Any money donated will be used to secure interim housing, purchase new clothing for my boyfriend and his family (including myself), eventually buy new furniture, and to rebuild our home. Any amount you're willing to contribute is so greatly appreciated, and if you aren't able to contribute money at this time, a share with your friends and family would mean the world to us as well.
