Hi, my name is Carmen, a good friend of jivan, and I’m creating this GoFundMe on his behalf.

Jivan isn’t someone who likes to ask for anything—he’s humble, self-reliant, and has lived simply and off-grid for years. But I’m asking for him now, because I’ve watched him give everything to protect the beauty of Borikén (Puerto Rico), and now he needs help to continue.

For over 12 years, Jivan has been walking barefoot under the hot sun, traveling miles upon miles across the island’s beaches, picking up trash and trying to wake people up to what’s happening. He doesn’t just clean—he stands as a guardian. Holding handmade signs in front of the people on the beaches. Handing out free bags to encourage others to join the movement. Speaking to strangers with a kind but firm presence. Watching over the beaches to make sure others take their trash out. He’s been doing the work of a nonprofit without being one—alone, unpaid, and from the heart.

He launched something called the One Bag Challenge, encouraging people to take just one bag and clean their surroundings—because he believes we all have a part in preserving this enchanted land.

Jivan lives a simple life without much money. He lives a simple life, off-grid, without much money. He grows his own food and asks little from this world—but he gives everything to preserve the enchantments of Borikén and help conserve our oceans and this planet.

His only mode of transportation—an old car—finally broke down, leaving him stranded and forced to walk a long way back to his home .

That car wasn’t just a convenience—it was his lifeline. It allowed him to reach beaches across the island, plant signs, deliver trash bags, and keep protecting what he loves

He’s not just someone who loves the enchanted island of boriken and nature. He’s risked his life for it. Years ago, Jivan was shot while defending a beach from people who were harming it. Most would’ve stopped—but not him. He kept walking. He kept showing up.

One of his goals is to continue traveling to every corner of the island, leaving signs on trees, spreading awareness, and preserving the enchantments of Borikén for future generations.

But right now, his only mode of transportation—an old car—has broken down, leaving him stranded and unable to continue the work he’s devoted his life to. Some might wonder why an environmentalist needs a car—but the truth is, in a place without public transportation, it’s the only way to keep this mission alive.

It’s not just for cleanups—it’s also essential to get his small eco-tour business off the ground. Jivan has been working to launch tours rooted in nature, awareness, and reverence for Borikén. This would allow him to fund his mission sustainably, without needing to ask for help again.

His message, and his cleanup efforts, are paused—not because he lacks the will, but because he lacks the wheels. Every day without transportation is a day less protecting Borikén.
