Support Joan and Brittney's Recovery Efforts

My name is Alia,
My sister Joan and her wife Brittney have been impacted by Hurricane Helene. They live in western North Carolina near Burnsville. The highway leading to Burnsville is gone. The road to their property is closed. At the moment, they have a network of friends and neighbors to help get supplies in because the rural areas are being overlooked. The road that they have been using is temporary. It has been fixed as well as it can be by the local community. Winter is coming though, and I don’t know if that road will be reliable then. Joan just got a job in Burnsville, but she has no way to get there. They need supplies for themselves and their community. Their land was badly damaged, and their car will need a new windshield whenever they can get it somewhere to get fixed. Not everyone in their area was as fortunate as they were, and they already gave away their generator and their last bit of gas. They really need a chainsaw just to be able to walk around on their own land. Two tornadoes swept through their property and downed many trees. They took shelter at a neighbor's during the worst of the storm. She made sure their animals were safe even though she was risking her life going out in a storm. The creek that was by her house turned into a raging river. There was a mudslide that went under their travel trailer. It is amazing that it is still there. Joan said it was the most terrifying thing she has ever experienced. Joan will need supplies for winter, and I know her; she will help her community like they are helping her. There is looting starting, but the neighbors are looking out for them. They are all like family, and whatever you donate will be shared with their community. People in the rural areas really need help. I don’t know what you have seen on the news, but no one has even been out there to see if people are still alive or okay. Right now, it has been over a week with no running water, no electricity, and no cell service. There is another hurricane forming. With all the damage done and all the trees down, it is worrisome. Keep them in your prayers. Please donate, and we will make sure that we can get the donations to her and her community.
