Support Joanna's Urgent Cancer Treatment

Joanna, a devoted mother of two, has given her life to help her children succeed, but now her children need your help to take care of her. Over the last 8 years she has struggled as the fatigue of Hashimoto's disease stripped her of her lively personality. By the summer of 2023, a lump in her thyroid had grown to the point she was having difficulty eating. On October 25th, 2023, she had her first surgery to remove the right side of her thyroid. The pathology of the tumor removed showed a Follicular Thyroid Carcinoma. Following this discovery on November 8th, 2023 she had a 2nd surgery to remove the left side of her thyroid. This pathology showed the left side of her thyroid to be entirely overtaken by a malignant Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma. However, due to the follicular nature of Joanna's thyroid cancer it is very likely to spread to her bones and/or lungs. Thankfully through Radioactive Iodine Treatment there is a very high mortality rate, but it is crucial to receive treatment very quickly to minimize the risk of the cancer spreading.

Joanna has unfortunately been experiencing financial insurance issues which has delayed this life saving treatment. She was originally scheduled to receive treatment in June of 2024, but due to the gravity of the situation she was able to have her appointment moved forward to May 13th. Her insurance did not originally approve the treatment delaying her appointment to May 20th. The Thyrogen, a recombinant human thyroid-stimulating hormone injection to help prepare for the radioactive iodine ablation, is going to cost $6,000 out of pocket through her insurance. $6,000 have already been spent to get Joanna to this point and it has left a financial strain on our family.

Joanna has raised me to be a confident & independent young woman, and it is hard to find the vulnerability to ask for help to pay for her treatment. I am so close to being able to see my mom be the happy, free spirited, confident woman she was before her health began to decline. I want to be able to care for her just as she's done for me & my brother, but without the $6,000 I fear I may not be able to give back to her what she deserves. Our family is incredibly grateful for any donations, which will go directly to pay for her treatment. Joanna will keep fighting for her health, and I will not give up until she receives the treatment she deserves.
