Support Joanne After Sudden Loss of Husband Paul
My sister Joanne just lost her husband, Paul, of 35 years suddenly. He had a TIA on Oct 3rd. After 3 days, he came out of it and went to rehab to recoup. He was going to the bathroom, came out, and got very dizzy. He was going to sit in the chair, but it wasn't as close as he thought. He wasn't and went down on the floor. After an X-ray, the rehab said everything was fine. Later, he wasn't feeling well, and they sent him to the ER. They found 3 fractures in his back. The next day, they did surgery. He came through okay. But a few days later, as we were told he was doing fine, out of nowhere, he was unresponsive. They did CPR and everything to bring him back. They called my sister to come down quickly. She was there in minutes, but he was gone. She was alone except for a chaplain to hold her hand.
Though this was bad enough, now she finds that she can't get his Social Security widow benefits because she's not 65. And instead of having her SS and his, she will get less than her husband got. I don't know why or how they can put her apartment to live in jeopardy and basic living. The car she needs and basic things to live. She also isn't healthy and has her own health conditions, which is why she's on SSD. I don't know how she will survive. And nothing gives time to grieve. She's worried about her whole life now and her fur babies. She figured she would have to give up her husband's SUV (which is for winter weather in PA) because he couldn't get into her little car. Now she doesn't even know if she can keep her small car. It needs to be fixed. And now she has to try to find insurance or pay the $218 for it to stay insured. She's lost someone she was with for 42 years and married for 35, the love of her life, and now her life is crumbling. She now feels it would have been better if she went with him or before him because she doesn't know if she will be able to survive. She has 3 little fur babies and is afraid she will lose everything.
- Could you please donate something to keep her and her fur babies safe in her apartment and for basic needs to fix her little car (which is financed) and keep her head above water until she can straighten things out?
