Support Joanne’s Fight against Breast Cancer

Faith. Strength. Resilience.

My name is Joanne Desir. Growing up, life came with many setbacks and obstacles. I chose the career path of Social Work to help women, the elderly, and the bereaved community to overcome trauma and find the healing that they need.

In 2016, I moved away to Jacksonville, FL to start a new life; however, that shortly ended when I discovered that my mother had a prognosis of End Stage Renal Failure.

In 2019, I left Jacksonville to become my mother’s caregiver. It was hard to watch my mother suffer through dialysis, strokes, and several code statuses. But, I stood by her side.

Caring for my mother took a toll on my health. Although I was exercising regularly and eating healthy, in 2022, I began to experience asthma attacks, panic attacks, and back pain.

On April 2023, I decided to stop exercising and seriously listen to my body. May 6, 2023, after showering, I discovered a 10 centimeter mass on my right breast. June 1, 2023, two days prior to my birthday, I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. On June 28, 2023, my life as I knew it was shattered. I received the devastating news from my sisters that my mother had passed away. That same day, I was also hospitalized and given the diagnosis that I had stage 4 breast cancer.

The same day that my mother passed away is the same day that I had to start fighting for my own life. The cancer cells had metastasized to my lower back and pelvic area.

I have cried and grieved the loss of my mother and my health. But in the midst of tragedy, I hold on to my faith in Christ Jesus.

I don’t have the answers as to why this happened to me, but I do know that it will turn around for my good. I believe that my story will impact many lives.

I have completed four rounds of radiation and 10 months of chemotherapy.

The negative news is that I discovered on June 2024, exactly one year after my diagnosis, that the chemotherapy treatment stopped working. That same month, I experienced an infection to my left breast, which required emergency surgery. On July 4, 2024, I was experiencing sharp pain to my left leg and feet, which required hospitalization. During my hospital stay, I discovered that I had a fracture to my left pelvic area.

I have decided to opt out of chemotherapy and receive 100% holistic treatments, therapy, and lifestyle. I am now a plant-based vegan and receiving holistic treatments from medical professionals who specialize in cancer treatment.

I have created this “Go Fund Me” account to help me pay the expenses for holistic treatment and therapy which is not cover by insurance.

Weekly cost ranges from $3000 to $5000.

My faith is strong, because exactly June 2023, I believe that GOD placed it in my heart that I will live and be cancer-free.

I believe that I am a fighter, warrior, victor, and overcomer.
