Hello everyone! My name is Josh and my family is currently going through an extremely challenging time regarding my grandmother's critical health issues following Hurricane Milton's evacuation.
Prior to departing her home in Pinellas County, Florida, she sustained a severe back injury while preparing her home for the storm, exacerbating existing back problems. During the 29-hour evacuation journey to Pennsylvania, her condition worsened. On the return trip home to Florida, an emergency stop in South Carolina was necessary due to her deteriorating health. She was hospitalized in Dillon, SC, diagnosed with colitis, and treated.
Since returning to Florida, my aunt has taken her to the emergency room twice, resulting in two hospital admissions. The first admission was for chest pain, blood clots in her lung and legs, and she was released with new blood thinner medication. The second admission was for a GI bleed, diagnosed as diverticulitis. Her CT scan also revealed a bladder fistula and two cracked lumbar vertebrae. She is facing much uncertainty as it pertains to what upcoming treatment and services she will require, and her Medicare will only cover a portion. She is going to need extensive care during her recovery and rehabilitation.
Any amount or donation is greatly appreciated and will go directly to her current and ongoing costs for care. Please feel free to share her story. Thank you.
