Hi, my name is John Freda. Joanne, my loving wife, my necessary everything since grade school, has been fighting stage 4 pancreatic cancer since January 2024. I will never forget the life-shattering day in the doctor’s office. Joanne and I were struggling to process the news of such an emotionally devastating diagnosis and prognosis. I was watching Joanne, and her immediate reaction was of incredible courage and determination. Upon hearing this emotionally devastating diagnosis and prognosis, she immediately informed her doctor that she planned on being the exception and beat this cancer. She wanted to know what she could do to help herself to achieve the goal she had just set for herself. Survival. However, I was instantly heartbroken but was determined to help Joanne in any way possible to survive. Joanne's steadfast courage and determination has had a profound impact on my ability to embrace our transformed and precious life together. We encourage each other to live in the present and live each moment of every day honoring Joanne's motto "It's all about Faith, Hope and Love". Gratitude is now crystal clear. Every day of life together is a gift from God.
Before life changed, Joanne and I enjoyed our dog grooming business working side by side for almost 25 years. In January, when we received Joanne's diagnosis, we were struggling to make decisions about how to continue to earn an income during chemotherapy treatments (which would be indefinite due to her stage 4 cancer diagnosis). We then realized that it would be impossible to know how she would react to the treatments. Joanne began her chemotherapy treatments but unfortunately due to having gone through 17 chemotherapy treatments so far along with the chemotherapy induced neuropathy in her hands, feet and mouth, as well as being on narcotics for severe cancer pain management, the various side effects from supportive drugs, the physical and emotional suffering from the side effects of such a torturous cancer, has made it impossible for Joanne to work and I became her full-time caregiver, making me unable to work. We are both doing our best at navigating the challenges and complexities of our new life together but due to the loss of both incomes our present situation is now more dire than ever trying to keep up with living expenses as well as medical expenses.
At this time, I am asking for financial help from our loved ones, friends and all others able to donate and by doing so this will enable Joanne to only focus on fighting and beating this deadly cancer. I am deeply saddened and anguished by what might lie ahead. My only desire is to help my dear Joanne, the love of my life, be able to stay strong and continue her fight, believing that through Faith, Hope and Love she will receive her healing miracle that she so deeply believes in. We will be forever grateful for your kindness and generosity for any amount that you can donate to help support Joanne as she continues to battle this devastating disease every moment of every day. Her incredible determination to survive this deadly disease is awe inspiring.
My broken heart cries out to you to help support Joanne in any way that you can. If you are not able to make a donation, please kindly spread the word. Thank you
