Support Joe Coyne & Family
Donation protected
On February 10, my good friend Joe Coyne -- a friend of Bill W -- went to the doctor with chest pains. In just four days, he was admitted to the hospital to undergo double bypass surgery. A series of complications and further surgeries ensued over the next five weeks -- which ultimately led to the loss of his right leg above the knee and the loss of all of his toes on his left foot -- forever altering his life.
Joe's medical procedures from Feb. 14 - March 22, 2019 include:
* Feb. 14: Double bypass surgery (4 hours)
* Feb. 28: Vein Mapping (4 hours)
* March 4: Bypass Right Leg in 3 places (9 hours)
* March 6: Re-wired and re-sutured chest incision (3 hours)
* March 12: Amputated right leg above the knee (2.5 hours)
* March 19: Stents placed in left leg at hip, femoral artery and knee (5 hours)
* March 22: Toes on left foot amputated (1.5 hours)
As Joe prepares to return home, his sister Sheila, brother Terry and his daughters Amanda, Colleen, Shannon and Bridget have been preparing his living space to accommodate a wheelchair. He also faces a long road to recovery as he looks to obtain the means to walk again (i.e., prosthetic leg) and gain the accommodations to live a full life (i.e., vehicle modifications). He will also likely not be able to return to his job as an industrial maintenance mechanic.
I have created this fundraising page for Joe to assist him and his family through this difficult time and to help fund:
* $12,500 medical deductible
* Money to pay for home alterations, including a ramp, bathroom facilities accommodations, and widening of a few doors to accommodate a wheelchair
* Money for any deductible for Joe's prosthetic leg and physical therapy
Please consider a donation today to assist Joe during this time of hardship in his life. Any donation -- no matter how small -- will really make a difference to Joe and his family.
