Support Joe McAleer's Stroke Recovery Journey
Donation protected
On Monday, January 6th, my brother Joe McAleer (only 56 years old) had a massive stroke and was found outside of his office in the parking lot. After a few days in ICU, he needed to have an emergency craniectomy to relieve the pressure in his brain. After a week in ICU, Joe is currently stable and was just moved to the stroke unit, where they are taking very good care of him. From there, he will go to an inpatient rehab facility for quite some time where he will continue having INTENSIVE therapy each day for many months/years to come. We are praying hard that Joe will regain his speech and function of the left side of his body. He’s been having small, but positive improvements each day! Joe will need to have another brain surgery in a few months once the swelling in his brain has subsided.
Joe has been surrounded by his family, amazing friends, and 16-year-old son since he arrived at Northshore University Hospital. He has an EXTREMELY long recovery road ahead of him but we are hopeful he will recover to a point where he can get back to walking the mall with Keegan!
We appreciate everyone’s love and continued support for Joe’s long recovery ahead! Please continue to keep Joe in your prayers!
