Donation protected
Dear friends, family and compassionate supporters,
I am starting this GoFundMe page with heavy hearts but a determination and a common ground seeking attention, love and support for those who are reading this post. My hopes is to help a family that has been affected by a devastating diagnosis of ALS.
ALS, also known Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. It primarily attacks motor neurons, which are responsible for controlling voluntary muscle movements. symptoms may include muscle weakness, twitching, and difficulty speaking or swallowing. As the disease progresses, individuals may experience increased muscle stiffness, paralysis, and eventually, respiratory failure.
Joe was diagnosed with ALS just shy of his 60th birthday. He has always been the pillar of strength to his family which consists of his wife and their loving daughter. Those who have had the privilege to know him has experienced a loving human being always willing to help anyone echoing love and happiness through his words and actions. He was the life of all our family gatherings, extended to our church community and beyond. Joe is currently at Trillium Hospital in ICU. He was intubated after going into respiratory distress while battling a pneumonia.
It is now our turn to rally together and be the support that this family needs. This GoFundMe page has been created to help alleviate financial burdens that is associated with ALS, and to ensure that Joe’s family can focus on what truly matters, maintaining quality of life as they embark alongside Joe through a disease that is incurable and progressive and that ultimately robbed this family.
