Dear Friends and Community Members,
On Tuesday, June 25th, 2024, our beloved friend Joel Houck was involved in a tragic vehicle vs. motorcycle accident while leaving work in Riddle, Oregon. Despite lifesaving efforts, Joel succumbed to his injuries, leaving his family and friends devastated.
Joel was a cherished member of our community, known for his kindness, unwavering dedication, and positive spirit. He grew up in Douglas County, Oregon, and had recently moved back to Azalea. As the sole provider for his family, Joel worked diligently at Roseburg Forest Products as an Automation Technician and often lent a helping hand at D.R. Johnson Lumber.
Tragically, Joel did not have any burial benefits or insurance coverage to assist with the expenses associated with his passing. The weight of this loss is immense. Joel’s wife and four children, the youngest just 2 months old, now face not only emotional devastation but also significant financial strain. Funeral expenses, medical bills, and daily necessities are overwhelming.
During this challenging period, we humbly seek your support—whether through financial contributions, comforting words, or any form of assistance you can provide. Each gesture, no matter how small, holds immense value.
