Help Joey Peters Fight Rare Mesothelioma Cancer
My name is Marianne, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart for my husband, Joey Peters, who is not just my best friend and soulmate, but a loving father and grandfather. Joey has been a mechanic his entire life. Even as a young boy, you could find him in the garage with his dad, learning the ins and outs of cars. His love for fixing things and helping others has been the heartbeat of our family for as long as I can remember.
Earlier this year, Joey began to lose a significant amount of weight for no apparent reason. We thought it might be a hernia when his belly button started to poke out, but the pain continued to worsen. In July, we rushed to the hospital, where our worst fears were confirmed: Joey was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of mesothelioma cancer. The doctors believe this cancer is from asbestos exposure, likely from years of working with brake pads. The cancer has spread throughout his stomach wall, and while there’s no cure, chemotherapy is our only option to give Joey more time with us.
Joey is only 46 years old. He’s the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need, and now he needs our help. We’ve been together for 25 wonderful years, and we have a beautiful family that includes our 5-year-old granddaughter, 8-year-old grandson, and our 10-year-old niece who has lived with us since she was just a baby. Joey is so close to the kids, especially our grandson, who looks up to him in every way.
I’ve had two strokes and have been on disability for the past two years, so we’re unable to work and cover the mounting medical bills. Unfortunately, Joey couldn’t get Medicaid, and we didn’t have insurance at the start of his treatment. We now owe UC West Chester almost $60,000.
We’re humbly asking for any support you can provide during this incredibly difficult time. Your donation will help cover Joey’s medical bills, ongoing chemotherapy, and give our family more time together. Joey has spent his life taking care of others, and now it’s our turn to take care of him.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, generosity, and support.
