Support John Del Valle’s Road to Recovery from a TBI

July 31, 2024, will be a day that my family will never forget! My brother John Del Valle was seriously injured while he was working. John was sent flying, causing him to land on his head. He suffered a traumatic brain injury and broke both major bones in his left leg. He was put on life support and rushed into brain surgery to evacuate brain bleeds. He has since been extubated and is breathing on his own but is missing a portion of his skull on the right side. He has been in and out of sleep with no clear idea what his future will look like. He has an extremely long and hard road ahead of him with lots of therapies and another brain surgery. Again, it is not clear yet what the future holds for him or what it looks like, it could be a year to know full effects of his TBI. My family and I want to do our best to have as normal of a life for him to come home to and to help support his babies in the best way possible.

Our family is so grateful that we did not lose him but know that he has a ways to go. Anyone that knows him knows that he’s a fighter and stubborn as hell. In John’s words, “He’s strong like iron, it never breaks, just rusts.” We truly believe that he is 100% capable of recovery and can’t wait to watch him meet the milestones.
