Support John Garcia Quiroz's Final Journey

Hello friends and family and those who are taking the time to read this. My name is Lydia Quiroz. I am a mother to 3 beautiful babies: Catalina (5), Mia (4), and John (1).

As many of you know, my father, John Garcia Quiroz (81) of Flagstaff, AZ, moved with us in November 2023 due to the house he was living in having black mold everywhere, and they would have to remodel and fix the home. My father was told it would only take a few months. As time went on, we kept in contact with the owners, and they continuously gave us the runaround. Finally, as we went into August, they told us it would be done in September.

On August 10, 2024, our lives changed forever. My father was taken into the Phoenix VA for what we thought was just bronchitis. My father left the emergency department finding out that he has stage four lung cancer and that it has spread. They had compared a CT scan and X-ray taken in May to the CT scan and X-ray taken on August 10, and they had seen no cancer previously in May. The cancer had progressed quickly and aggressively, and we had no idea. The doctors gave him 3-6 months until this illness completely takes over. My father decided that he wants to spend the rest of his days with his grandbabies and stay here with us while doing palliative care and switching to hospice care. Many of you know my father has had an extensive life with health issues from high blood pressure, diabetes, three open-heart surgeries, a pacemaker, a mechanical heart valve, and in April 2022, he was also diagnosed with testicular cancer and had those tumors removed.

My father has had a very long life with all his health conditions. He served in the Vietnam War in his younger days. He lived his whole life in Flagstaff and worked at the lumberyard. He worked from 20 until his 60’s at Coconino Fence Company. He dedicated a lot of his youth and time to the fencing company. He has always been a HUGE part in the flagstaff community. If you go look around Flagstaff you will still see all of his fences he put up, STILL up. Growing up, he was a single father raising my brother ( Miguel Quiroz ) and I. My father has always been a hard worker, and we never saw him give up regardless of all the health issues and all the obstacles he had to go through. My father was always there and has always been the strongest man. We want to raise money to help with any bills that may come up during this time of need and give him the appropriate funeral he deserves. Thank you for your consideration to donate during this time. It means more than you can imagine for our family. Everything left over will go to his grand babies and what ever they need. As his love for them is and will be never ending.
