Support John's Children Through Their Loss

UPDATE!! The worst is over and John was laid to rest on 5/31/24 but life doesn't stop. The rent was due the very next day, living arrangements for the minor children has yet to be finalized. The kids are all still trying to grasp the fact dad is gone and still looking at very uncertain immediate futures. The older kids were just starting to find their way in a world that has now been turned upside down. John loved his kids with his entire being and helping his kids get through this is something John would want from all the people he loved and helped along the way. It really does take a village and finding that in our community is something we all witness and share in every day.
On Sunday, May 26th, our dear friend John Wisener tragically drowned on a fishing trip in Springfield Lake. John left behind many hurting hearts, but his children are hurting the most. He was our friend, our neighbor, and we will miss him dearly, but the loss is compounded for his kids. John left behind four children, he was the custodial parent of two of which are only 12 and 15. This is a terrible tragedy and all the kids' lives are upside down right now.
John was a single father and he made taking care of his kids his first priority. Family and friends have pulled together to lay him to rest, but going forward there will be additional fees and costs to make sure the boys are taken care of. Housing, utilities, and basic needs as the kids grieve and wait to see what comes next for them now that dad is gone.
John was a good man, a good friend and father, and a good human. He helped many people along the way, even if it was just being silly until he got a smile. Knowing the community he loved is helping to look out for what he loved most will help him rest easier and take some stress off of his kids so they can have a chance to breathe, process, and grieve the loss of the man who showed up for them every single day. Let John's legacy show in the way we show up for his family the way he showed up for so many of us.
