Support Jojo's Recovery and Family's Needs

Donation protected
We are heartbroken to share that one of our OMSD students was tragically shot while at a local park on Friday April 4, 2025 . The student and his family were not involved in the altercation. Tragically, they were caught in the crossfire while leaving Veterans Memorial Park in Ontario after picking up their son from the after school program at the Community Center.
This senseless act of violence has left Jojo in a critical but stable condition. He is currently in the hospital, surrounded by the love and strength of his family as he fights to recover and heal.
Jojo is not only battling for his life — he and his family are also facing unimaginable challenges. They are currently experiencing homelessness. Despite their circumstances, the family has stayed together, doing everything they can to provide love, care, and support for their child during this devastating time.
We are asking our community to come together and help support this family in their time of urgent need. Every donation — no matter how small — will help with:
Basic necessities such as food, clothing, and hygiene supplies

Temporary shelter and transportation

Medical and recovery-related expenses

Support for the family’s well-being as they remain by their son’s side

Let’s show this family they’re not alone. Our community stands together in moments of crisis, and your generosity will make a lasting impact as they navigate this painful and uncertain journey. As you can see, Jojo has a loving family, a love for life, and big plans for his future. On behalf of all of us who know this family, we ask for positive thoughts, sharing this page, or monetary support. Anything can and will help this loving family.
I am the principal of the middle school where Jojo currently attends 6th grade. This GoFundMe page is organized by his school, community and those that Jojo has touched by his presence and his strength. The families needs are beyond what our staff alone can provide and I hope that by sharing their story the generosity of others can also help them. The family will directly receive to their bank account 100% of the donations minus the fees. (Currently, GoFundMe charges a single transaction fee of 2.9% plus $.30 per donation, automatically deducted from each donation to cover payment processing costs and ensure secure fundraising)
Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and support.
