Support Jonathan Coffer & His Family

In June, Marta and Jon noticed a mole on Jon's back was uncomfortable and changing size.  They called his primary care physician to make an appointment but he could not be seen until late July.  As the spot increased in size, they noticed that the lymph nodes under his right arm were swelling.  Another call was placed to the doctor and he was able to get in sooner.

The mole was removed and biopsied, revealing that it was melanoma.  Further tests revealed that it was Stage III - it had spread into his blood stream and to the lymph nodes under his right arm.  A visit to the surgical oncologist revealed that the lymph nodes were too swollen to be removed, as they were now too close to a nerve and an artery.

Jon will be receiving immunotherapy, via IV, every three weeks, to treat the cancer.  This treatment may cause the lymph nodes to shrink to the point where they can be removed.  Additionally, Jon's doctor is hopeful that such treatment can cure Jon's cancer and that, perhaps, he may not need to have surgery.

The funds raised through this campaign will go to pay for Jon's medical expenses and his family's living expenses, as Jon will not be able to work much during this time.  A MealTrain  has also been set up for Jon's family.  Please consider making a meal or providing a meal/grocery shopping gift card through MealTrain!
