APWU family,
It is my intention to seek the office of National President of the APWU in 2025. I would not enter this formidable race if I did not believe that we need change. I have a deep conviction that as your National President, I will make an essential contribution to the future of this great union.
With 30 years of union experience, I have seen the moral of the membership diminish to an all-time low. For the past 12 years, I have served as the NY Metro Areal Local President and have had many accomplishments. I have had the honor to listen to our many APWU members express their frustration and dissatisfaction over the past 5 years when dealing with the Postmaster General, Louis DeJoy. The APWU has always been a fighting union. During the Postal Strike of 1970, our Union Family didn’t concede to bullies, and neither should we. I do not support PMG Dejoy’s Delivering for America 10-year plan.
As a Local President for over 12 years, I have the knowledge and experience necessary in representing Clerks, Maintenance and Motor Vehicle workers. I am looking forward to learning more about Support Services. I know the problems that plague our members; problems that should be solved with bold, competent and honest leadership. I believe in democracy to my very core. It is my fundamental belief that as your National President, I will be the responsive, practical, and fair President that you need and deserve. No craft is any more or less important than another.
As your National President, my plan is to bring efficient leadership methods to the organization by placing realistic and attainable expectations for each elected officer. I will prove that the National Leadership can and will be sensitive to the needs of the individual locals. This will be done by working with the Research and Education Department in updating our training programs to address the current needs of our Stewards and membership. I will address this union’s current political and legislative strategies so we can deal with excessing and consolidation more aggressively and effectively. As your National President, the non-compliance with arbitration decisions and settlements will be my priority. I will fight to improve the arbitration procedure by insisting on employing only true partners in the process. In addition, we will fight to protect the arbitrators that have been good to the APWU.
As your National President, I will address your issues with truth, openness, and common sense. Furthermore, I vow to give you the respect you deserve and the professionalism that the office of APWU President requires. I am not disillusioned by thinking this is going to be an easy task. The APWU requires someone who isn’t afraid of making the hard decisions. I am built for this challenge. I am prepared to lead this great union. We need to respect the past as we move into the future, and the only way to do this is with new leadership and nuanced ideas.
As I said, this will not be easy. We must focus on what can be accomplished when people are determined, untiring, and dedicated to the greater purpose- the prosperity of the APWU. I truly believe the person who works hardest wins. Nobody will work harder for you than I will.
Are you ready to have leadership who will talk with you and not at you? Then I’m your guy.
A nationwide campaign is a rigorous and expensive undertaking. I need your support. I have opened this GoFundMe account to help alleviate some of the financial burden in running a National campaign. No contribution is too small. I appreciate any financial assistance that you can provide. I also ask for your prayers, and most of all, your vote.
I greatly appreciate your participation in this campaign via your comments, suggestions, and yes, your personal or local endorsement.
May God bless you, your family and most of all, the APWU.
