Support Jonell's Stroke Recovery

Hi, My name is Gina Castro oldest of Jonell Salinas.On July 13, 2022, she suffered a stroke.

That morning around 11 am, she came upstairs and told me she wasn't feeling good seconds later; she collapsed in the hallway, unresponsive for a few minutes. When she came to, we noticed her speech was slurred, and she had minimal mobility. When EMS arrived, they transported her to the ER. Shortly after, a nurse called asking for permission to give my mother a medication that would dissolve clots and needed to be given 2-3hrs after a stroke to prevent further damage. Thankfully my mom was in the time frame for the medication to work. Doctors did several tests, and everything looked good. However, my mother was still frail and not able to move on her own. They decided to do an MRI where they found out due to the fall 2 of her discs came out of place in her spin causing pressure in her head. Now with this they are wanting to do surgery on Monday July 18, 2022, to releave the pressure to see if she'll get her mobility back. With this surgery Docotrs are wanting my mother to go to a rehabilitaion facility to help her recover. Doctors said it would cost about $25,000. My mother does have insurance but its a basic insurance and we still dont know if its going to cover her hospital stay more less the rehabilitraion that is needed.

For those of you who know my mom (Jonell), know she is very strong willed, very independent, and doesn't like to ask for help. She puts everyone else before herself and adores her grandbabies. So as you can imagine its been very difficult for my mother casue she can't do the simple things like brush her hair and teeth on her own. It will be awhile before she fully recovers but we believe God will heal her and she will soon be back to her normal self.

I'm wanting to relieve some of the burden of medical expenses but not able to do it alone. With all of your help we can be there for my mom (Jonell) as she starts her recovery and give her the care she needs to come home.
