Support Jose A. Soliz's Medical Recovery

My name is Joe and earlier this year we almost lost my father, Jose A. Soliz. My dad had contracted COVID a couple of times during the pandemic but for some reason, this time it affected his body worse than before. He was already considered high-risk because he has had heart disease, he is diabetic, and he has one remaining kidney after surviving cancer almost 25 years ago. His one remaining kidney would not function properly and they had to start him on dialysis.
The hope was that the dialysis would be temporary but as the days wore on, my dad slowly came to the realization that he may have to be on dialysis for the rest of his life.
Then a miracle happened. Even the doctor used that word.
The day they were scheduled to put in the port so my dad could go on permanent dialysis, his kidney miraculously started functioning again. It was truly an answer to prayers and the beginning of a slow recovery.
So why are we here? Well, at the direction of his doctor, my father can no longer work his chosen profession because of the level of exposure he has to the public.
What does he do you ask?
My father has been in education for 45 years. The majority of his career was as a Band Director but as he got closer to retirement age, he started focusing on his passion for Mariachi music by becoming a Mariachi Director. He has helped thousands of students hone their talent over the years. He loves teaching music ever so dearly, that even though he will hit 70 years old this year in November, he was fully prepared to continue teaching until this happened.
Now the hospital bills have started rolling in and the reality of what Medicare truly covers has become apparent. My mom is a retired educator as well having served as a Teacher's Aide for almost as many years. Pictured above, you see them both with my son, their grandson, who is their pride and joy and only grandchild. My dad would very much like to spend his remaining years enjoying time with his family.
Some of you reading this may know my dad while others may not. Just know that it is very hard for my dad to ask for help. He is usually the one asking OTHERS if they need help. So it is not easy for him to agree to this fundraiser.
We know finances are tight so if you are not able to donate to help pay his medical bills, we ask that you at least please share this on social media.
Thank you to everyone who has prayed for him!
