Help Joey G Rebuild His Life After Devastating Accident!
Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,
We are reaching out to share the heartbreaking story of Joe Gonzales, a talented musician whose life was forever changed by a tragic accident. Once known for bringing joy and inspiration through his music, Joe is now facing the unimaginable challenge of life with paralysis.
Joe's accident left him paralyzed from the neck down, robbing him not only of his mobility but also of his ability to pursue his passion for music in the way he once did. Despite this life-altering event, Joe’s spirit remains unbroken, and he is determined to adapt to his new circumstances.
However, the journey ahead is overwhelming and filled with challenges. Joe needs extensive medical care, physical therapy, specialized equipment, and home modifications to regain independence and adjust to this new reality. Rehab is helping with some mobility, but he has a long journey ahead.
We are asking for your help to give Joe the resources he desperately needs. Your generous donations will go toward:
Medical expenses not covered by insurance
Ongoing physical and occupational therapy
Wheelchair and other mobility aids
Modifications to his home for accessibility
Mental health support during this difficult transition
Every dollar, share, and prayer makes a difference in helping Joe rebuild his life. He has touched so many hearts with his music; now it’s our turn to give back and show him he’s not alone in this fight.
Thank you for your support, love, and generosity. Together, we can help Joe find a new rhythm to his life.
With gratitude,
Barbara
Joey G's words
On Wednesday night, as I was getting up from the toilet, I blacked out and hit my head against the bottom wooden frame of my hot tub. I landed on my face with very little room to breathe because the carpet was covering my nose. I realized quickly that I couldn’t move any part of my body and was basically paralyzed. All I kept focusing on was trying to breathe. At first, I thought it was a stroke. Countless long hours went by and still I couldn’t move. I then realized that it was Wednesday and nobody was going to check up on me until Friday. That is when I started to panic and started losing my breath. I was praying to God to please save my life and give me a chance.
99% of me gave up at that point because I couldn’t see a way out. I couldn’t get to the phone. I was helpless and there was no way I was going to make it until Friday. I didn’t realize it at the time, but more than 10 hours had passed when a thought suddenly occurred to me that maybe I could yell to my Amazon Alexa to call 911. At first, Alexa wasn’t responding, so I let some more time pass while I was running out of breath and still screaming to Alexa. I could barely even get the words out.
Then I remembered that my daughter Bridget Crozier's contact was saved in Alexa, and so I started to yell for Alexa to call her. Then Bridget called my other daughter Lissette Brito, and they realized that something had happened and I was far away from what they thought was a phone. Shortly after that, 911 arrived. After examining me, they immediately told me that it wasn’t my heart. Those were the longest 12 hours of my life in which I was literally stuck between life and death.
As I sit here in the hospital a week later, I realize just how lucky I am to be alive. I suffered a spinal cord injury and had to get surgery last Friday, and now I am fighting to regain movement in my entire body.
I would like to thank all of my friends and family who have checked on me. You now know my true story and I promise you I will give 100% to come back. To all of my prayer warriors, please continue praying for me.
I just wanted to tell my story because I want everyone to remember how fragile life is and how everything can change in the blink of an eye.
