Support Jose Marti MAST MUN's Journey

Hello! My name is Mariella Collado, and I'm fundraising for the Jose Marti MAST 6-12 Academy Model United Nations team! Being an active parent in my child's education, I see my son Daniel (who is President of the MUN club) working so hard with the team to try and make the MUN club the best it can be. They impress me so much, and every day, I'm so amazed by the passion and dedication they pour into what they do, which I hear from Daniel. Every day after school, Daniel always talks about how he's so excited about the projects that his Model UN team is planning and engaging in and what projects they have to come, and this next project is huge.

Last year, while Daniel was still a member, the club was able to raise 10,000+ to attend a competition at Yale University. This was a huge accomplishment, being from a Title I school, and with almost 60% of students being eligible for free and reduced lunch, they were from low-income backgrounds. With the fundraised money, the team sent 16 students to Yale University, and everyone had a beautiful time competing and seeing a school that many of them aspired to be at. When Daniel returned, all he could talk about was going to the next one and how much he loved it. Now, the time for the next one has arrived.

The Jose Marti MAST Model UN team is set to tackle its biggest endeavor, from competing locally in their first year, then domestically in year two; this school year (their third being a club), their biggest goal is to go international; and that goal is an international competition in Barcelona, Spain. This fundraising goal is ambitious, and that's because the team wants to send a good-sized group of students to compete. The funds go into airfare, delegation and competition fees, hotel expenses, and other expenses incurred. With this being the 1st option, the club has a suite of options across colleges in the United States to expose the kids to the schools of their dreams!

This group of kids is truly wonderful, and I want to help give them a once-in-a-lifetime experience that they'll never forget!
