Support Joseph Community School in rural Uganda
Donation protected
Joseph Community School is a small school in rural Uganda for children of the Bagishu tribe. Most parents work as subsistence farmers; their average annual income is a mere $60 US per year. The school is in a modest dirt-floor building. It lacks running water and has only simple equipment and basic supplies. The school is run by an all-volunteer staff. Although most years we are able to give the teachers a small stipend, our goal is to pay them a guaranteed annual salary. We would also like to provide them with funds to travel to a nearby city to gain much-needed professional development.
Joseph Community School has a small library with several bookshelves. Your Go Fund Me donations will enable us to buy more books for the library. Your donations will also help us buy much-needed school supplies for the students. Donations will also help us buy cornmeal so we can provide more lunches to the students. Since many kids come from poor families, providing lunch increases school attendance.
Our president, Sebastian Wanzama-Piro, who lives in Ontario, Canada, travels to Uganda almost every year to oversee our projects. He leaves in December 2023 for his next visit. He will put your donations right to work at our school.
