Support Josh's Recovery Through This Medical Crisis

On Monday, Jan 20th, Josh woke up to intense pain in his chest, shoulders, arm and left ear. Thanks to his partner, Ray, Josh was rushed to the ER where they found his blood sugar was 400 and his blood pressure through the roof, which led doctors to diagnose him with diabetes, and discovered that he suffered a heart attack. His doctors found major blockages to his heart, which requires quintuple (five) bypass surgery – a major heart surgery that will have a prolonged recovery with intense rehab, taking up to a year. His care at UNMC has been amazing, but Josh will be left with unbelievably expensive bills; both for his hospital stay and surgery, and then for his outpatient rehab and new, lifelong heart and diabetes medications.
These expenses leave Josh and Ray in a very precarious spot as they are both self-employed; when they don’t work, they have no income. Josh will be unable to work for at least four months, and Ray will be his primary caregiver, limiting his employment as well.
Right now, our goal is to raise enough money to help Josh and Ray pay for his hospital stay, rehabilitation, and relieve the financial stress facing them from this period of unemployment.
Josh is so thankful to be supported by Ray, their families and friends, and a multitude of folks in the Omaha community and across the country who have sent well wishes, prayers, and offers to help. It’s been amazing to see how many people care!
