Support Jr & Jen in their time of need
Donation protected
Hello and thank you for taking the time to consider donating to provide support to Jr and Jen during this time of hardship. This year has been very difficult both medically and financially for the two of them. Jr has experienced many health complications that have placed him in the hospital numerous times this year. He is currently in the hospital as of January 20. In addition, Jen was laid off from her job last Spring after 20 years in the mortgage industry, and since December, Jr's disability has been their only source of income.
We are asking for donations to help curb medical costs associated with Jr’s care, as well as living expenses. Let's help them get back on their feet!
Thank you for your love and support!
If you would like to read more about their particular battle, please continue to read below:
Jr and Jen moved to Montana in April 2021 after Jr experienced a near-fatal motorcycle accident. The accident resulted in numerous, and at times, seemingly impossible medical complications to manage and overcome. It was at this time Jr began what feels like a never-ending fight for his life and peace with his family. Jen has since taken on the role of caregiver. Jr's health has continued to decline, and one devastating thing has happened after another.
On January 20, Jr was admitted to the hospital for the third time in two months and is continuing to be cared for around the clock. The biggest challenge Jr is facing right now is a staph infection in his back. This infection is aggressive and hard to eradicate. Not only is it resistant to most antibiotics, but the fact that it is in his bones (called osteomyelitis) just makes it more difficult. This infection has spread to 4 of his discs. He has pockets of puss all along his spine which are pressing on sensitive nerves causing extreme pain. There is also some bacteria/vegetation growing on his heart valve which is concerning and is being monitored very closely. SECOND biggest challenge: calciphylaxis. This is a condition that sometimes happens to renal patients, and is extremely painful. While he has calciphylaxis, he will not be able to do his dialysis at home, instead, have to come to the dialysis center for treatments once he is discharged from the hospital. NEXT UP - vision. Jr has unexplained peripheral vision loss. He has been working with the ophthalmologist for weeks trying to figure out why this is happening, but no answers yet. We are just hoping that it doesn’t get worse and his sight comes back. Jr also has a broken clavicle with lots of soft tissue damage on his left side. His right shoulder is fractured and keeps dislocating out and back in with the slightest movement which is painful. NEXT UP: Jr’s spleen. Part of his spleen has died, which is also causing a fair amount of abdominal pain. At this point, it is not in his best interest to have it removed, but the doctors are monitoring it.
These are not even all of what Jr is facing daily, but a summary of his more focused/immediate needs.
Then there is Jen who has fully stepped into the role of what it means to be a partner for someone, ensuring that he receives the best care possible. Jen is often his only fierce advocate in a world she’s had to adapt to quickly. In Jen’s role as a full-time caregiver, her life has changed dramatically. She has had to become knowledgeable about every aspect of Jr's medical conditions, and has had to learn to administer help with medical equipment and prescriptions (truly and literally saving Jr's life on a couple of occasions due to her quick thinking and immediate response), and has become Jr’s physical aide.
While we hope and pray for Jr’s recovery and the day he can go back home, we know there is still a long road ahead in the healing process. Jeny also hopes for the day she can rejoin the workforce and get back into the mortgage industry with her twenty valued years of expertise. From the cost of gas to and from appointments, prescriptions not covered by insurance, co-pays and basic needs -it all adds up fast and they need our help!
This couple will be forever grateful for your generosity.
