Hello, my name is Judy. I'm 28 years old and I was originally born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. I currently live in Queens, NY with my partner in crime and our dog, Ada.
At the beginning of 2024, on a monthly basis, I was consistently getting sick, which forced me to take time off work. This affected my required responsibilities during my employment. The pressure from this pushed me to put in 14+ hour days, which made me neglect my own health and well-being. Ultimately, in July 2024, even with the efforts that I've made, I was still let go from my employer.
At the same time of losing my job, my health took a turn. I realized that my symptoms were getting worse and I was not recovering. That's when my family and I noticed a tennis ball-sized lump in my left armpit. With my family having a history of dying from cancer, this really scared me and quickly urged me to go see a doctor. Throughout July and August, I saw many doctors and had X-ray scans, CT scans, PET scans, and biopsies performed. On August 27th, 2024, I was officially diagnosed with Stage 3 Classic Hodgkin Lymphoma. I honestly felt defeated as cancer was the last thing that I wanted this to be. At my diagnosis appointment, my oncologist mentioned to us that the chemo treatments will affect the likelihood of being fertile in the future. This added devastation as I truly was looking forward to experiencing pregnancy with my partner in the near future. We decided to go through fertility treatments prior to chemo. After reviewing our options, freezing our embryos had the best success rate for securing our future family. Our next step is to start my chemo treatments. This journey is going to suck and it will be a long one, but it's a journey that I must go through. I know that once I beat it, it will make me stronger at the end.
We are fundraising to cover the medical expenses and fertility treatments that are crucial for my health and our future family. Your support will help us navigate this challenging time and secure a hopeful future. We thank anyone who is able to donate, but we completely understand that not everyone is able to. All of your love and support is much appreciated as we navigate through this journey.
