Support Julia and Abigaelle’s trip to Montana
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Morgan and I’m fundraising to help my good friend Julia and her daughter make the trip of a lifetime to the US. I met Julia in a small village in the Central African country of Gabon in the late 1990’s when I was a Peace Corps volunteer. Julia was a young teenager who took me under her wing and taught me about cultural etiquette, Gabonese food, local languages, etc. She was a little sister who acted like my big sister. Julia never asked for anything and always had a smile on her face. I lost touch with Julia when I came back to the US because she did not have access to a mailbox, but I reconnected with her on Facebook several years ago and we have been busy catching up on our lives (and my rusty French) ever since.
Julia lives in Libreville, the capital of Gabon, with her teenage son and young daughter. She works hard as a housekeeper for Chinese ex-pats, but she is living paycheck to paycheck with the high cost of living in Libreville.
Julia’s dream is to come visit me and my family in Montana next summer and I would love nothing more than to show her the hospitality that she showed me in Gabon. She and her daughter, Abigaelle have miraculously secured US tourist visas and we are doing all we can to support a 2-month visit in 2024.
Julia and I would greatly appreciate your financial support for her visit. All donations would be applied to the cost of round trip airfare between Libreville and Montana (recent search showing $2k/ticket between Gabon and NY). I will also be purchasing 2 round trip tickets between Montana and New York so I can greet them and make sure they have a safe trip in the US with their limited English.
During their visit we hope to show them the wonders of Yellowstone, get ESL tutoring, take them fishing, share meals and old stories, and create memories that will sustain us until the next time we can get together.
Thank you so much for your support.
